The 6-foot-11 big man is sturdy on the block, rebounds well and has a soft touch around the basket. Michael Eric, on the other hand, has been fantastic. He’s tentative and hasn’t stood out at all. Right now, it doesn’t look like White has much of a chance to make the Washington Wizards’ roster. He’s been very unassertive and lacks confidence in himself, it seems. He scored two points in roughly 19 minutes of playing time. The Washington Wizards lack wing depth and Eddie should at least get an invitation to training camp.įor the second straight night, White wasn’t very good, to put it bluntly. He tried to do too much on Sunday and turned the ball over four times, but Eddie has a great stroke from deep. He’s certainly capable of being a role-player in the NBA. Now that Marcus Thornton is back, it will be interesting to see if Eddie will stick around in Washington. The sharp-shooter knocked down some clutch 3-point shots and finished the game with 19 points.

Kelly Oubre, Jarell Eddie and Aaron White were the featured players for Washington, and after two games, Oubre is the only one who’s played consistent basketball. Summer league is set up in tournament-style, so wins and losses ultimately count for something, but teams and staff just want to see individual player growth.

Washington made a late surge, but the Hawks’ ball movement was too much as Atlanta went on to close it, 88-80. With that said, the Hawks swung the ball on the perimeter and got plenty of open looks from driving to the basket and kicking it out. The players seem to understand that if they want a shot to a make the roster, they have to make the extra pass.Ĭoach Mike Budenholzer stresses ball movement and the prospects realize unselfishness is their key to potentially making the final roster. The Hawks moved the ball extremely well, which isn’t typical for summer league. Whether he is still around beyond 2023-24 is anybody’s guess, though.By Ben Mehic 7 years ago The Washington Wizards lost to the Atlanta Hawks in NBA Summer League, but three players stood outĪfter beating the Utah Jazz on Saturday night in their first game of NBA Summer League, the Washington Wizards took on the Atlanta Hawks on a second night of a back-to-back.

So, barring something unforeseen, he’ll be a member of the Hornets next season. What do you think happens with PJ Washington and what do we do with the mid-level exception? - to answer the first part of your question, as we’ve previously reported, Washington loves it in Charlotte and wants to be a member of the Hornets. The waiting game continues and there is nothing concrete to report currently on the exact state of the talks between the two sides. If it wasn’t, something surely would have been done by now. Negotiations for large contracts can be tough to find common ground on at times and that seems to be the case for Washington and the Hornets. But if you’ve been paying attention to our coverage dating back to the start of the 2022-23 campaign, when Washington didn’t reach an agreement with the team on an extension before the season began, this is not a surprise.
